Vaikuntha Ekadashi that occurs during the December or January month in the English Calendar [or DhanurMaas in Hindu calendar]

Vaishnavism (Worship of Vishnu) culture believes that 'Vaikuntha Dwaar' or 'the gate to Lord's Inner Sanctum' is opened on this day. 

It is also called "Mokshada Ekadashi", liberation or free from cycle of births and deaths. And one who worships Lord Vishnu on this auspicious day and keep fasting throughout the day and night and chants holy names of Lord Sri Vishnu and doing Yagnas, enters vaikunta loka where lord vishnu resides.

Fasting and chanting rules:
  • Complete fasting on this day is observed.
  • Rice intake is completely prohibited on this day.
  • Sitting in dhayn posture or in Yoga posture and chanting holy names of Lord Vishnu is utmost important.
  • Maintaining complete bramahacharya is most essential.
  • Away from bad habits like smoking, drinking etc.
  • No argue with anyone on this day.
